WHAT TO EXPECT
A monitor technician, also sometimes known as a cardiovascular technologist, observes and analyzes the heart monitors attached to patients in a hospital.
This 8 week Online Program teaches you how to monitor the heart rhythms of hospitalized patients using electrocardiograms. A Monitor Technician observes the heartbeats and electrocardiograms (EKG) of patients in intensive care units or ICUs. They typically work in hospitals and sit at computers outside of patients' rooms to perform their job.

WHERE DO MONITOR TECHNICIANS WORK?
Monitor technicians work in hospitals and other healthcare centers that provide
treatment relating to heart health. They work in any medical setting where there is
a need to monitor irregular heartbeats, arrhythmias, and cardiac arrest using
specific EKG and heart monitoring technologies and tests. Monitor technicians
typically work a day or night shifts in a hospital setting and report directly to a lead
nurse or doctor. During their shifts, they observe heartbeats and electrocardiograms
(EKGs) to assist with interpreting and diagnosing conditions related to the heart.

COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS: this is an online hybrid course. You will need a laptop,
Personal Computer (PC), or MAC to take this class. A printer is not required but very
helpful. Chrome Browser for Google Classroom. You may be able to use an I-pad, but
it is a little more difficult to work with. We DO NOT recommend using a smartphone
to take the class. We will not offer help on a smartphone.
PAYMENT PLAN: TUITION ONLY
Finance fee: $25
First payment due first week of class and then every two weeks. Four payments
ALL REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT IS ONLINE
You will pre pay your $300 deposit to reserve a seat for the class. Go to

DocuSign to complete and return once your deposit is received. You will need to
send a copy of drivers’ license, and high school diploma or GED. Complete all
requirements are due prior to class start date. Requirements List is in packet to be
sent to you and in your course information sheet. If you need to register for a CPR
class refer to your packet for information regarding scheduling and purchasing your
Provider Book prior to your class.
