Hybrid Nurse Aide

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Most classes require a background check, some classes require current immunizations (HepB, MMR, TDap,Varicella and Flu in season, Covid immunizations required), TB testing and BLS/CPR. These are not included in tuition fees. EKG, Phlebotomy, Pharmacy Tech, and Medical Assisting require a copy of a high school diploma or GED certificate. Medication aide class requires a certificate from a CNA or PCA class. We also need a picture ID and copy of Social Security card or birth certificate at the time you register. WHAT TO EXPECT

Our 140 hour (five week)Nurse Aide course trains new nurse aides to  assist Nurses and Doctor's with checking Vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living (feeding, bathing, dressing, ambulating, light housekeeping, cooking, etc.), providing comfort, and providing companionship.


This Hybrid (online/in class) class aims to guide students through the foundations of the subject and prepare them for their clinical experience to complete their program. 


Students will get the chance to apply their problem solving and critical thinking skills within a challenging learning environment that requires active participation. Students will be able to take the State of Virginia Certified Nursing exam when done. Stop by one of our classes to see for yourself.

SOME HIGHLIGHTS

This nursing fundamentals course prepares the student to assess and provide for the basic physical and emotional needs of clients in all arenas of healthcare; prepares the student for the State Certification Examination to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. 


The clinical portion of the program is an opportunity for students to competently and safely transfer classroom theory into practice with instructor guidance and supervision. This course is required by the Virginia State Board of Nursing for Certified Nursing Assistants.

COURSE ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Pre course Eligibility Exams 
  • No felonies or Barrier Crimes that will prevent Board of Nursing approval to test
  • Tuberculosis /PPD test
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed statement declining vaccination, MMR, Tdap, Varicella, covid shots and flu shot if in season
  • Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS certification (will be offered prior to the class for an additional fee if needed)
  •  Required texts/other materials: not included in tuiton
