Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to bring to class?
For on-site classroom courses, you'll need to bring a valid photo ID. Student handbooks are required for BLS courses and will be provided. Dress comfortably as you'll be practicing skills on the floor. For hybrid courses, complete your online portion first and bring your completion certificate to the skills check.
How long are the certification cards valid?
American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Heartsaver certifications are valid for 2 years from the date of issue. We recommend renewing 30-60 days before expiration to avoid any gaps in certification.
Do I receive my certification card the same day?
Your official American Heart Association certification card will be mailed to you within 1-3 business days after successful completion of all required skills and written assessments. You'll receive digital confirmation of your certification immediately upon completion, which you can use while waiting for your physical card to arrive.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made less than 48 hours before class start time will not receive a refund. However, we're happy to reschedule you to another available class date at no additional charge. For group training, the organization is responsible for fees for 5 students if canceling with less than 48 hours notice.
Can I take the course online only?
BLS renewal courses can be completed in a hybrid format where Part 1 is done online and Part 2 is a skills check on-site (approximately 1 hour). However, all AHA courses require an in-person skills demonstration and assessment. Fully online-only courses do not meet AHA requirements for certification.
Do you offer courses in Spanish or other languages?
Currently, all our courses are taught in English. AHA course materials are available in multiple languages. Please contact us at (757) 229-0919 to discuss language accommodation options.
